SNOWTIME
A previously unpublished children’s book by Robert O’Meara from 1958
Amid the large and impressive collection of watercolors that my father left us when he died (peacefully, at the age of 98) this past April were 14 paintings in a different style than his usual. Instead of being landscapes or studies of interesting buildings, these were watercolors of a child at play in the snow. Soon we also discovered a couple of typed sheets, with simple verses keyed to the paintings. It was the draft of a children’s book, written in 1958, and never published. It was a joyful and loving project to finally put these images and text into book form.
